Hood River Area Trail Stewards Update

Busy Bike Saturday– and some other items

• Join Ranger Jim Thornton and the 44 Trails Crew for a work party this Saturday, departing 9AM from Little John Snowpark. Jim asks us to bring a hardhat or bike helmet and wear long pants. A rake or mcleod is the best tool for the day.

• Don’t forget the White Salmon Bike Park grand opening Saturday at 2PM. Bring the kids!

• Finish your day with with Ranger Jim and 44 Trails at a real party at Dirty Fingers: 3-6PM. Learn all about future plans for bike trails up on the mountain, enjoy live music by Cripple Hop, and drink beer with all proceeds going right back into our trails.

• We’re trying to keep the Post Canyon Trail Map up-to-date, despite the best efforts of the trail builders to get ahead of the map. You can always find the link to the latest version here.

• If you are interested in helping trail builders with small, informal work parties join our “trailbuilders” distribution list. Send a request to admin@hrats.org and we’ll put you on the list.

• You’ve probably already discovered the new parking area for the new Whoopdee Trail. It was built thanks to a partnership with Crestline Construction, land owner Stevenson Land Company, and HRATS trailbuilder extraordinaire Steve Dunn. Make sure you thank all of them if you run into them, as they’ve each made a tremendous contribution to our riding enjoyment.

• Trail work this spring has been unprecedented thanks to dedicated trail stewards, all the volunteers who have lent a hand, and generous cash contributions for fuel, materials, tools and equipment. Your tax-deductible HRATS donation can help fuel trail efforts the rest of this year: new trail construction, poison oak control, brushing. Donate here!
