Oregon Coast Gravel Epic

It’s remote, it’s hilly and it’s an ass-kicker.
In preparation for the Cape Epic mountain bike race in South Africa this past spring, the owner of Rolf Prima and I (Steve Cash, owner dark30 sports) rode the 73-mile Oregon Coast Gravel Epic long course three times over the winter. At the end of the second time, in January when the temperature averaged a brisk 32oF, he looked over and said “that is either a great ride or an abomination and I’m not sure which”. We rode it a third time and agreed it was both. It’s a great ride and it’s an abomination. It’s remote, it’s hilly and it’s an ass-kicker. When you finish, there’s no announcers, no cheerleaders, no medal, no age group awards. There’s food, a sense of relief and I will be at the finish to shake your hand for a job well done.
