IMBA chapters across the country have teamed up with NICA this year to put on some incredible #TKMBD events. From engaging youth in trail work days with land managers and NICA’s Teen Trail Corps; to trick-or-treating-on-two-wheels; to group rides, pot lucks, and mountain bike games, the sky’s the limit for how and where to take a kid mountain biking.
Get out with your family or neighbors and find an official event near you! Or find a fun trail, ride for ice cream, and play some mountain bike games with the next generation. Download and decorate a number plate with your young rider, and celebrate the trail stewards of tomorrow during #TKMBD 2023.
Need some inspiration on the best places to take kids mountain biking? Here’s a word from our experts…
Briar, Age 10, Two Harbors, MN (Mom-Ryan) “Take kids mountain biking close to where there is an ice cream shop!” (#moretrailsclosetoicecream)
Joni, Age 4, Park City, UT (Mom-Julie) “Yabba Dabba Doo… it has twists and turns.” (This little gal likes a good flow trail!)
Ian, Age 14, Winona, MN (Dad- Coach Josh) “The best place to ride with kids is at the top of Bronk’s (Cherry Hill). It’s a nice place to learn lots of skills, and have fun at the same time. Or, take ‘em off jumps in your backyard.” (Ian is a NICA rider for the Winona Composite MTB Team.)
Wherever you go, we hope you have a beautiful time on the trails celebrating your young riders!
