Super Rider: Can This Dirt Jump Bike Work For Street Trials?

I’m often asked if you can modify a dirt jump bike for street trials – so today I took my Marin Alcatraz bike and made some changes to see if it was possible to set it up for street trials. The best part about this build was that it only required one thing to change: the gears. Swapping to a 22:18 gear ratio was all that needed to be done (although I did a few other things to customize it for myself).

It’s cold and icy outside, so we just tested it inside the Shred Spot this time, but we’ll get outdoors with this bike soon enough for a proper test. I’d say after that first session that this bike is a great option for street trials, and aside from the bottom bracket height being slightly lower than my existing street trials bike – there wasn’t much of a noticeable difference between the two!
