Seven days, two thousand miles and countless hours on the bike later, we’ve turned my son Teegan into a mountain biker! Time on the bike and repetition have been the biggest factors getting him comfortable and confident on two wheels. Along the way, we’ve had to manage expectations (for both of us) and the biggest mistakes I’ve made are accidentally putting him in over his head on technical terrain and selecting trails that required a bit more climbing than he’s used to. But we’re slowly figuring things out as we go along!
In this episode of the roadtrip, we cruise from Bentonville to Durango – putting the mountains in mountain biking. We also realize that Moab is just a few hours up the road, so we ride there, too. The punishing schedule of the roadtrip finally catches up with us, and we have to call an unscheduled rest day – which thankfully lines up with Arches National Park!
