Hey all,

We are one week away from our annual spring party and fundraiser. Help us continue to build and advocate for new trails and improvements in Post Canyon, Whoopdee, and across the river. We’re setting ourselves a goal of $20,000 raised at this party and need your help buying raffle tickets and showing up to drink beer, talk trails, and win prizes! To make a connection between this fundraising effort and our work I wanted to highlight what’s been going on. 

Two new trails in Post Canyon are nearing completion. Jeff Blackman’s Shadow trail from the top of El Dorado to Remix will open before this summer and will be a mostly hand built trail appealing to a wide user base. This adds a critical route option from the top of El Dorado and we expect it to be really popular from the onset. Maurizio von Flotow’s B-Side is also coming along nicely and will be a rowdier, techier continuation of A-side. It will be a nice true tech addition to Post. Completion date is still TBD, but we’re stoked for when it opens. We are very fortunate for the leadership of HRC and the trail adopters to make these trails a reality. 

The big addition to Whoopdee is now complete! As an added bonus, trail adopter Joe Benedetti, has turned a set back into an opportunity. Logging work took out the lower half of the climb out and it needed to be re-cut. Always one for a challenge, he was able to build a much nicer climb route that reduces the average grade from 8% to 5%. He has eyes on a reroute of the second half and we are looking to dedicate $15,000 of the money raised at the party to make this a reality. I think we’d all appreciate a more relaxing finish to one of the Gorge’s great rides.
