Hello Trail Lovers,
We wanted to pass along the following message from Hood River County about the change in Industrial Fire Precaution Level (IFPL) in Post Canyon. Please note that electric motorcycles are allowed on motorized trails in Post Canyon year round and may be difficult to hear. Please continue to use caution when biking on shared trails to avoid the risk of a collision.
Everyone,
As of 12:01 am Today, Monday, July 28th, the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) Regulated Use Closure (RUC) & Industrial Fire Precaution Level 3 (IFPL Lv3) has gone into effect in Hood River and Wasco County. The RUC restrictions will Close All County Forest Trails To Combustion Engine Motorized Use due to fire danger at this time. E-motos & E-bikes are still permitted. The Forestry Dept. will be installing signage Today, 7/28/25. Open campfires throughout the county forest and campgrounds are also prohibited. Portable cooking stoves using liquefied or bottled fuels are allowed. All vehicles traveling on county forest roads will be required to have a shovel and a gallon of water or a 2 ½ pound fire extinguisher or larger.
ODF implements the RUC regulations during fire season to reduce fire starts. Please read the attached RUC attachments to learn more about fire restrictions and help prevent wildfires in Hood River County.
Please report any non-active fires to the HRCSO Non-Emergency line at 541-386-2711. In the case of an active fire, call 911 immediately. Please help us spread the word throughout the community!
Thank you,
Thomas Moloney
