Cam McCaul: Bend Oregon New Trail – Build and Ride

Huge thanks to COTA (Central Oregon Trail Alliance) for making this trail project come to life. COTA had been working on getting permission to build 3 advanced trails at Wanoga Snow Park for 17 years.. Once COTA got the green light, they accepted a bid for the build from our good friends at Sensus R.A.D. Trails. The crew at Sensus involved some of us locals (Dusty Wygle, Carson Storch and I) to help out. For anyone living in Bend, the idea of having permission to build downhill trails in the woods (ACTUALLY DOWN A HILL!!) is an absolute dream come true. This process was a lot of work but also super enjoyable and the icing in the cake is seeing how popular these trails have instantly become as soon as they were officially opened.

This video follows the build process of 1 of the 3 new trails and it was shot on an iPhone and a GoPro on days I was there. A lot of the building Dusty did on the lower part of the trail wasn’t captured on camera because I was on a couple trips. Thanks Dusty for making this thing flow so well.

In addition to thanking COTA and Cody Wilkins at Sensus R.A.D. Trails, I also want to thank all the locals who volunteered to get this thing through the finish line before the snow ( in this vid, you’ll see Jacob Guthrie and Ethan Eggert, but thanks to everyone who helped even if it was off camera.)

Seeing the parking lot packed and hearing hoots and hollers coming from the woods on all 3 trails is amazing. Looking forward to shooting more videos out here and showing the other two trails.

Thanks for watching
