“Shared Wild: Where Community Rides Forward” tells the story of how youth mountain biking in the Columbia Gorge can be about more than trails and technical skills. It can be a pathway to confidence, belonging, and connection to place.
Set in and around Hood River, Oregon, this short film follows Bekah Rottenberg, founder of Brave Endeavors, and the youth- and community-centered programs she’s built over the past decade. What began as a small, COVID-era program has grown into a model rooted in leadership, joy, and environmental stewardship.
Through partnerships with organizations like Culture Seed and The Next Door, Brave Endeavors works to lower barriers to outdoor recreation and expand who gets to see themselves on the trail. The film weaves together voices from parents, youth, and community members to show how access to bikes, mentorship, and supportive spaces can help young people build resilience.
