Whoopdee Update:
Currently Whoopdee is completely closed due to logging. As soon as Green Diamond notifies us that we can access the trails again we will begin to get the trail reconstructed and reopened. We do not have time frame yet but when we have a better ETA we will release more information.
Post Canyon Update:
After a winter of little snow, a lot storm damage, bridge upgrades, trail upgrades and a new hand built trail most trails have reopened. Please check the county map for the most up to date information on trail closures. https://webmap.hoodrivercounty.gov/trail/ Here is list of projects some completed/ in progress this winter:
• Two new bridges installed on 7 Streams by Hood River County Forestry (HRCF) funded by Travel Oregon
• Mitchell Ridge new lower section berms machine work by Sasquatch Trails funded by HRCF and Oregon State Parks with volunteer labor, Sasquatch Trails did the project at a bargain rate as a service to community to get Mitchell Reopened ASAP
• Lower Trail 100 machine work funded by HRCF and Oregon State Parks with some volunteer labor for plate compacting, Sasquatch Trails did the project at a bargain rate as a service to community
• Toilet Bowl renovation machine work completed by Bluefield Trails, funded by Travel Oregon with volunteer time to complete some of the finishing work
• Chuck Line new hand built climbing trail connecting Kleeway bridge to Spaghetti Bridge 100% volunteer hand built
• Trail repairs and work throughout the system conducted by HRCF and trail adopters due extensive debris and fallen trees throughout the trail system
• In progress: 3 Blind Mice upgrade and extension funded by Travel Oregon built by Bluefield Trails, with donation by Bluefield trails to build the extension and HRATS volunteer, work is still in progress with the goal to open in the next few weeks
