Dumb Idea: The BC Bike Race in 24 Hours

What is it like to attempt an iconic mountain bike stage race in one day?

Specifically, riding the entire BC Bike Race in under 24 hours? That’s all seven stages – usually broken into daily rides over one entire week – ridden in one single day: 234km of singletrack, 7,013m of climbing, and 304km of driving between stages, all in under 24 hours.

Can it be done? Is it sane to even try? Russell Thiessen is the only rider we know who is willing to find those answers.

Dumb enough to try and tough enough to maybe – just maybe – pull it off: watch Russell crunch the numbers and battle the clock as he takes on one of BC’s most iconic mountain bike stage races in a single massive push.
