Professional mountain biker and HEST Dream Team ambassador Hannah Bergemann gives a full tour of her custom 2024 Mercedes Sprinter 144 AWD high-roof van, built by Carrve Custom Vans. Based in Bellingham, Washington, Hannah uses the van as both a daily driver and a race and adventure rig.
What’s inside:
Bike garage that fits 4 bikes inside, plus a workstand, tools, and a hose for trailside repairs
HEST Dually mattress with enough headroom to sit up in bed
HEST Camp Pillows, Comforter, and Fitted Sheets
Simple kitchen with custom drawers
Swivel front seats that turn the cab into a hangout space
Hidden shelves and storage under the bench and above the seats
Why the Sprinter 144 AWD: the shorter wheelbase makes it practical for daily driving, the high roof maximizes interior height, and AWD handles mixed conditions and light off-road use.
Build details: about 6 months from start to finish, roughly a $$$ budget (premium materials, only the essentials). Hannah’s favorite trip so far is a multi-week British Columbia road trip through Whistler, Kamloops, Vernon, and Revelstoke for race events.
Her advice for new builders: start with whatever you have. Hannah began with an old truck and a topper before upgrading.
