Hood River Area Trail Stewards: Trails Season is Around The corner

Hello Everyone,

Trail season is approaching, and we thought we would briefly update you on local trails.

Mark your Calendars, HRATS is holding a fun fundraiser with music, 4/20 from 4-8 pm.   Details to come over the next month.

Klee Way is getting a major facelift this Spring and will be closed along with Sister Wives until the work is done.   The best estimate is six weeks, but it really depends on the weather.   Expect calls for volunteers.   The majority of this project was funded by HRC, putting parking pass funds to work.

Family Man will again see significant work this Spring.  Please stay away from any machine work you pass.

  • The New Middle School Jump line will get its finishing touches this Spring.   This is the new line on the West side of Family Man.
  • HRATS has contracted Gary Paasch (Send Scapes) to finish the Klee Drops.   They are in the middle of Family Man, and were left unfinished last year.
  • HRATS has contracted Gary Paasch (Send Scapes) to build a Rock Garden on the slope just West of Klee Drops.

A fabulous new trail called “Remix” was built by Jason Wells, Craig Spaeth and many volunteers.   HRC’s grant with ORPD funded machine time.   We expect this trail to be a major hit this spring once the finishing touches are done and the soil dries a bit.   Please respect closed signs; the builders have worked extraordinarily hard to bring you what will likely be the most popular trail in Post Canyon.

Lastly, Spring riding can be absolutely amazing, but it can also be a sloppy mess that destroys the trails.   Our best advice on when you should ride can be found at the bottom of our website’s trail Etiquette page.

Take Care,

HRATS
