Hood River Area Trail Stewards: Reminder // Work Party June 7 – Additional Details

Hello Trail Lovers,

The trail system keeps growing, and unfortunately the brush hasn’t gotten the memo. If you’ve ridden Post recently, you’ve probably noticed vegetation starting to close in on many of your favorite routes. This Sunday is your chance to help keep the trails open, flowing, and fun for everyone.

We’re looking for volunteers to join our Brushing Work Party on June 7. No experience is necessary, and we’ll provide guidance, tools, and plenty of encouragement. Whether you’re a longtime trail builder or it’s your first work party, we’d love to have you join us. Many hands make light work!

Our primary focus will be brushing. Brushing is a vital part of trail maintenance that improves rider experience and safety by maintaining visibility and preserving trail flow. “What is brushing?” you ask. Brushing is the process of trimming back vegetation along the sides of the trail using weed trimmers or hand tools. If you’ve ridden some of the trails we’ll be targeting, you’ve undoubtedly noticed the encroaching vegetation, narrowing trail corridors, and reduced line of sight.

Trail Adopters and Crew Leads will lead small teams to targeted areas and provide everything you need to “Brush Like a Boss.”

Meeting Details:

  • Date: Sunday June 7
  • Time: 9:00 – 1:00
  • Location: Family Man Staging Area

Donuts, generously donated by our friends at Rosauers, along with Skratch Hydration and snacks provided by HRATS, will be available. Please consider bringing additional water and snacks for yourself.

What to Bring:

  • Work gloves
  • Closed-toe shoes
  • Long pants and long-sleeve shirts are recommended, as poison oak is appearing in some areas.
  • Power or manual weed trimmers (if you have one); electric hedge trimmers would also be useful.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to have fun

If you plan to park at Family Man, please remember you need a parking permit. You can buy a day permit at the staging area or an annual pass online at Hood River County Forest Parking Pass.

As with all work parties, we ask you to sign a 2026 waiver (if you have not done so already): 2026 Waiver. Please also track your hours: 2026 Hours Tracking

We’d love to see you there as we help keep Post Canyon riding great all season long.

Happy Trails,
HRATS
