Hello Trail Lovers,
Happy May! Trail conditions are riding exceptionally well right now, and it’s a great time to get out and enjoy everything the Gorge has to offer.
Thank you again for your generosity at last month’s fundraiser—those contributions are already helping support the trails we all love.
We’ve got several updates and opportunities to get involved this month:
In this edition:
- Families at Family Man
- Upcoming Work Party
- Whoopdee Update
- HRATS in the News
Families at Family Man
Back for another season, Families at Family Man is a free, community-focused event welcoming riders and families of all ages.
Join us every Thursday from 6–8 PM, May 21 through July 2.
All dates are open to everyone, with Spanish-speaking families especially encouraged to attend on May 21 and July 2 for our Familias at Family Man nights.
Upcoming Work Party – June 7
Help keep the trails in great riding shape by joining our June 7 work party.
We’ll be brushing from 9 AM–1 PM in Post Canyon. Meet and organize at the Family Man staging area. No experience is necessary—if you’ve never brushed before (or don’t know what brushing is), we’ll show you everything you need to know. If you can, please bring your electric hedgers and\or weed whackers.
If you plan on parking at Family Man, you will need an annual parking permit, or day permit onsite.
Whoopdee\Post Canyon Update
The outer loop of Whoopdee remains closed for forestry operations. The shorter inner loop of Ronnoc and the Climbing Trail remain open. Thank you for your patience—we’ll share updates as soon as they’re available.
Please respect all closures. Continued access depends on maintaining a strong relationship with landowners, and riding closed trails puts that at risk.
In the meantime, there are plenty of trails riding great right now—take advantage of them!
Some Post Canyon areas have also recently undergone herbicide treatment as part of reforestation efforts. Timing for this work can vary with weather, so we recommend checking trail status before heading out.
Trail Highlights
Have you checked out any of the new or revamped trails lately?
The new Chuck Line offers a great climb option to Mitchell Ridge or a fun entry into Charlie’s. Meanwhile, classics like Toilet Bowl and 3 Blind Mice have seen major improvements and are riding better than ever.
